fundraisersThe Peck Family – Volunteers in Mission & Ministry with JP

Hi and welcome to our page on the Jeremiah Project web site!

Our family has been passionate about our support to JP since Julia first attended as a camper in 2003.  Wiley joined her the next year as a youth leader from our church, and was so impressed by the blessing JP is not only to the people it is helping through construction projects, but also the spiritual growth experienced by campers and staff that he has volunteered as JP coordinator for our church ever since.  He accompanied Christina and Jacob during the past three years, and is looking forward to attending again with Jacob in 2008 and Caleb in 2009/10.  Julia has been a staffer every summer since 2006 and Wiley joined the board of Directors in 2006. We excitingly look forward to our many opportunities to continue our relationship with JP!

We are currently raising money to offset the cost of materials and lumber for this summer’s work projects and JP needs to raise $30,000 in order to cover our project costs, so our family has set a goal of raising 10% of this amount ($3,000). We hope you will be led to support the goals of JP with your tax deductible donation.  Any amount will help with this cause!  Thank you in advance for you support!

Joann Chambers had surgery in July 2007 and would permanently be wheelchair bound.  Since her house was not wheelchair accessible, the hospital would not release her.  Ms. Chamber’s medical bills continued increasing, because she had to remain in the hospital.  The Jeremiah Project has worked with Ms. Chambers in the past and found out about her situation, and agreed to build a wheelchair ramp and make her home wheelchair accessible.  Her ramp and all indoor projects were complete in one week so she could come home as quickly as possible.

This is just one of many success stories from the Jeremiah Project, a non-profit, youth mission organization specializing in providing short-term mission opportunities for middle school students.  JP is a home-repair organization that exists to serve God's people in need and empower middle school students to become servant leaders.

Over 9 weeks during the summer of 2007 in Virginia and West Virginia:

~ Jeremiah Project served over 70 families.
~ JP worked with over 500 middle school students and adult leaders.

There are many stories and situations similar to Joann’s in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and the eastern panhandle of West Virginia.  These residents are either unable to afford the cost of their own home repair, because they receive a low-income, and/or cannot perform the necessary work because they have a physical or mental disability.  Middle school students do a variety of work for these residents including yard work, painting homes both inside and out, building porches and wheelchair ramps as well as trailer maintenance and fence construction.

YOUR SUPPORT WILL BE A BIG PART IN CHANGING THE LIVES OF PEOPLE!
